After a close game from wire to wire, Aleksander Balcerowski’s shot after an assist by Mateusz Ponitka was enough for Poland to get the 87-86 win over Turkey on the second day of the “Acropolis tournament”.
With four seconds left on the clock, Alperen Sengun missed his shot, Furkan Korkmaz got the offensive rebound and scored, but the time has expired.
It was a great duel with Shane Larkin stealing the ball and giving to Turkey a crucial 86-85 lead with 10 seconds left. It was not enough, even if Turkey managed to come back after trailing by seven (80-73).
Mateusz Ponitka finished the game with 16 points, six rebounds, and seven assists, Aaron Cel added 15 points and Balcerowski scored 13 points.
For Turkey which on paper is a much stronger team, Cedi Osman had 15 points in 18 minutes of action, Korkmaz and Melih Mahmutoglou scored 13 points each, and Sengun had nine points on 3/8 FG.
