In 2017 Lauri Markkanen had his coming out party in the Eurobasket. Five years later, he is ready to do even more for Finland, as was obvious in the exhibition game against Ukraine.
Finland got the 97-94 win, however, the story was Markkanen and his amazing game. The Cavs forward finished the night with 42 points in 38 minutes of action, having also nine rebounds, three steals, and four turnovers.
Those are not usual numbers by European standards, but Markkanen more than delivered. Alexander Madsen added 15 points for the winning side and veteran shooter Sasu Salin had 11.
Toronto’s Svi Mykhailiuk scored 20 and dished five assists for a Ukrainian side, which once again proved that they will not be easy prey in the upcoming Eurobasket. Sacramento’s Alex Len had only four points, but Issuf Sanon scored 13 and Volodymyr Gerun added 12.
