After recently recovering from his injury, Crvena Zvezda’s Nemanja Nedović won’t be able to help the Serbian national team against Great Britain on November 11, but he will be available to the head coach of the national team Svetislav Pešić for the game against Turkey on November 14, in the World Cup Qualifiers.
With that, the Serbian guard will play for Crvena Zvezda against Fenerbahče on Thursday, in Round 7 of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague.
“I asked the coach to skip the game against Great Britain and made myself available for the match against Turkey. We’ll talk when they return from Great Britain, and decide about my appearance together”, Nedović said.
He got injured playing for Serbia in the EuroBasket and played his first game in his second stint with Crvena Zvezda on October 28 (78-72 win against Bayern).
“I am not 100% ready yet, and I know that being on the national team requires hard, hard work from the beginning. No one is going easy on you and that’s how it should be because the two crucial games are in front. I felt I was not ready for that and made myself available for the second game. I will have more time to prepare, train, and play the game against Fenerbahce, and will be available to the national team in a better condition,” the Crvena Zvezda player added.
Nedović played two games in the EuroLeague this season, scoring 12 points on average against Bayern and Monaco. He also played two matches in the ABA League, scoring eight in the win against Igokea, and 13 in the surprising loss to Zadar.
Serbian head coach Svetislav Pesic called 13 EuroLeague players for the upcoming matches. Nedović is out for the first game in Newcastle, but Pešić expressed his hope that Vasilije Micić, Marko Gudurić, Vladimir Lučić, and Ognjen Jaramaz might be available, while Nikola Kalinić and Vanja Marinković probably won’t be able to help.
“The Spanish clubs did not allow their players to come. There is still hope, but most likely, Baskonia will not let Marinković go, and Barcelona will not let Kalinić go. Efes should release Micić, Fenerbahce Gudurić, Bayern Lucić, and Jaramaz”, Pešić noted.
