The Ukrainian Basketball Federation is officialy parting ways with national team head coach Ainars Bagatskis, upon the expiration of his contract following the completion of the 2023 World Cup Qualifiers.
Ukraine didn’t manage to advance to this year’s World Championship, finishing fifth in Group L, below the qualified Top 3 of Spain, Italy, Georgia, plus Iceland.
Bagatskis took over the Ukrainian national team in 2019. He coached Ukraine in the 2022 EuroBasket where the team made it past Group C and was then beaten by Poland in a knockout game for the Round of 16.
His overall record with the Ukrainian national team was 13-11.
