The Croatian national team has a new head coach, as Josip Sesar took over the reins from Aco Petrovic, per the official statement of CBF.
Sesar is at the helm of Cibona from last summer, but was also working alongside Petrovic as an assistant coach in the national team, in the previous period.
Petrovic, who ended his interim reign, gave two propositions to Croatian Basketball Federation, with Belgian national team head coach Dario Gjergja as a second option besides Sesar.
The 45-year-old coach previously played for the Croatian national team and participated in European championships in 1997 and 2001.
After his playing days, he spent his whole coaching career so far in Croatia, working for Zrinjevac, Cibona Youth, and Gorica. He also led U20 Croatia and was an assistant to Drazen Anzulovic on the first team in 2018.
His first task will be at the last round of pre-qualifiers for Eurobasket 2025, and the Olympic pre-qualifying tournament. Both in the upcoming summer.
