Sad news is coming from Venezuela, as national team player Garly Sojo passed away at the age of 24.
“We deeply regret the passing of Garly Sojo, a member of our National Team and an extraordinary human being with great potential in basketball,” announced the Venezuelan Basketball Federation.
Sojo donned the Venezuelan national team jersey in the 2021 Olympic Qualifiers, and World Cup Qualifiers, as well as the 2023 World Cup and 2023 Pan American Games, where he won the silver medal.
He spent most of his career in his home country, playing for Cocodrilos and Broncos in Caracas, and Gladiadores de Anzoategui, but also had brief stints in Mexico, Argentina, and Uruguay.
