Panathinaikos and Turkey coach Ergin Ataman shut down the rumors that Kendrick Nunn initiated procedures to obtain a Turkish passport with the goal of playing for the national team.

“The Nunn news is not true,” Ataman said to TRT. “We have many alternatives for the naturalized player. In addition, we continue to work for our current naturalized player Tarık Biberovic to be in our squad with his Turkish status.”

It was reported earlier on Tuesday (20/8) that Ergin Ataman said that Nunn applied for a Turkish passport to join the “12 Giant Men” in international competitions. Nunn’s agent George Panou also denied the report to Eurohoops.

Nunn is coming from a stellar debut season in the EuroLeague with Panathinaikos, averaging 16.0 points, 3.0 assists and 2.0 rebounds as the Greens won the championship for the seventh time in club history. The former NBA guard was also named to the All-EuroLeague First Team.

In May, Nunn signed a two-year extension with Panathinaikos.
