After 15 years leading the French men’s basketball team, Vincent Collet has been appointed as Special Advisor to the National Technical Directorate of the FFBB.

Collet led Les Bleus through six FIBA World Cups and four Olympic Games, winning eight international medals, inlcuding the 2024 Paris Olympics silver.

It’s a little more than a page that turns. I’ve been a coach for 26 years and I’ve had the immense honor of being the national selector. It was the right time for this final curtain,” Collet said.

As part of the two Olympic projects, Los Angeles 2028 and Brisbane 2032, he will now take on a role within the FFBB. Under the authority of National Technical Director Alain Contensoux and in collaboration with the Director of Performance and French Teams, Jacques Commères, Collet will have several missions directly linked to his expertise as a coach in the technical, educational, and managerial dimensions.

He will be called upon to provide advice on training players and coaches.

As stated in the official press release, his position within the FFBB could be interrupted if Collet were to respond positively to requests from NBA franchises (assistant coach position) or teams participating in the EuroLeague (head coach position).
