The Russian Federation announced that it appointed Sergey Bazarevich as the new head coach of the country’s national team, signing a contract until the Eurobasket 2017. The 50 year old coach, who currently also serves at the helm of Cantu, in Italy, has been unanimously voted to lead Russia back to glories of ages past. He will replace Evgeny Pashutin, who left the national team after the failure of Eurobasket 2015.

Bazarevich has been coaching teams since he was 31 years old, beginning his career in Dynamo Moscow having a double role, being a coach and a player, simultaneously. After retiring from his career as a baller, he also coached Samara, Krasnye Krilia and Lokomotiv Kuban.
