The president of the German federation Ingo Weiss confirmed that FIBA send a letter, asking if Germany would be able to organise in short notice a pre-olympic qualifying tournament.
As Weiss said: “The letter has come . If Italy or Serbia belong to the sanctioned federations, we should organize it. It would be a dream, it would be nice”. By getting to host the tournament, Germany will also get a wild card in order to compete for a spot in Rio Olympics.
That could also mean direct qualification in Eurobasket 2017. At this moment Germany should be preparing for the Eurobasket 2017 qualifying round, which starts on the 31st of August.
