The season ended for Davis Bertans, but he will not be able to help the Latvian national team in the Belgrade pre-Olympic tournament.
Laboral Kutxa’s forward informed coach Ainars Bagatskis that he will not able to help the national team this summer, due to a season plagued by injuries. As Bagatskis said to the local press: “It is good that the player himself informed us of his decision. Now we have a list of 18 candidates to make the national team”. Kristaps Gluditis was cut from the team, while Strelnieks (Brose Baskets), Silins (Reggio Emilia), Vecvagars (Zalgiris Kaunas) and Timma (Zenit) are not yet available.
However they are bound to make the team, while the rest of the 14 players who are in the pre-selection are the following: Yakovich, Peyners, Skele, Leyasmeyers, Dairis Bertans, Blooms, J. Berzins, Lax, Meyeris, Smits K. Berzins, Rolands, Meyers, Pasechnik.
