Mirko Novosel, one of the most prominent figures in the history of Yugoslavian basketball and member of the Basketball Hall of Fame, threw some… oil on the fire of Olympic quarterfinal between Serbia and Croatia.
During an interview with Slovenian website ‘Dnevnik’, he was asked for his opinion on Milos Teodosic. His answer? “This is a special type of player who I would never have in my team. He is a fine player, but a loser. Not a winner. He has lost some Euroleague titles.”
Novosel gave much of the credit of qualifying to the Olympics, to Aleksandar Petrovic. “We made it to Rio because of Aco Petrovic. We wouldn’t have succeeded with someone else as head coach. Petrovic is the ideal person for this kind of short-term summer duties. Therefore he is great for the national team. But not for a club, where the work is long-term”.
