Zach Auguste is getting a Greek passport

Zach Auguste was cut by the Los Angeles Lakers and is now closer than ever to getting a Greek passport, an option which makes his move to Europe possible.

Auguste’s mother is Greek (her name is Lia Tzimouli) and his father is from Haiti. The 23 years old power forward/center had been in talks with the Greek basketball federation in order to get a Greek passport and a Greek nationality in the past, though the case closed soon.

This summer, Auguste focused on being selected in the NBA draft, something which didn’t happen, yet he earned a spot on the Lakers’ Summer League. He signed with the team and was later waived.

At the same time, the process of him acquiring a Greek passport had started again and it is quite possible that he will be at the Greek national team’s disposal next summer.

When he finally gets his passport, chances are that he will also make his big overseas step, since he will be eligible to play in Europe and, more precisely, Greece.
