Paulius Jankunas will miss EuroBasket this summer, according to 15min.lt. The Zalgiris veteran has already informed coach Dainius Adomaitis about his decision.
Jankunas, 33, said that the reason behind his choice to rest this summer is to take a rest from a long and tough season. As he explains: “It was a difficult decision but the season was tedious. My body had started sending me signals that I needed to rest. I’m 33, not 24. It’s a pity that I cannot play in the national team, but I support it with all of my heart.”
The forward has been a member of Lithuanian NTs since 2003, when he won the silver medal at the U19 World Championship in Greece, then 2 years later he led the team to the gold at the U21. Ever since, he counts a bronze medal with the senior team at the 2010 World Cup, a silver medal at the 2015 Eurobasket and a bronze one at the 2009 one.
