Greece beat Israel 65-56 in the Final of the U20 European Championship in Crete, following up the U18 team’s 2015 triumph in the Greek city of Volos in 2015.
Vassilis Charalampopoulos, possible draft prospect who’s constantly under the NBA radar finished the final with a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds. He was also named the MVP of the tournament.
Antonis Koniaris dropped 15 points and was the leading scorer for the winners and he joined Charalampopoulos on the All-Star Five alongside tournament assist-leader Tamir Blatt of runners-up Israel, French power forward Amine Noua and standout Icelandic big man Tryggvi Hlinason, who took his team to an historic Quarter-Final showing.
France beat Spain in the bronze medal game, with a 72-58 win and Noua dropping 15 points for the French.
