Eurohoops sat down with AEK’s head coach Luca Banchi in an effort to analyze Italian basketball more closely and he does believe the current situation is a bit unusual.
“Right now, the level of Italian basketball is a bit weird.”, the coach said before explaining. “You saw in the past five years we had many players able to play in the NBA or players who raise big trophies around Europe. They can prove that right now the Italian basketball is in shape.”
However, Banchi also adds: “To tell you the truth, the results of the national team cannot match the level of Italian basketball.”
