Donte DiVincenzo talked to Corriere dello Sport about his Italian roots and his eligibility for the Italian National Team, his favorite Italian player and his Milwaukee Bucks teammate Giannis Antetokounmpo. He hopes to obtain his Italian citizenship next summer.
“My father is working on securing the documents for an Italian passport the last months” the 21-year-old guard said and added: “I don’t speak Italian, but I feel Italian. My grandfather only speaks Italian. Next summer I will visit Italy with my father for the first time. We will get the citizenship and this makes me and my family proud”.
During his interview to the Italian newspaper he also mentioned: “I follow the Italian National Team and see its games on my phone. It’s a nice and talented group. I talk often with Danilo Gallinari. He’s one of the best Italian players I have ever seen”.
On the Greek Freak: “Giannis Antetokounmpo is a monster, he has superhuman strength. There’s no stopping him. He’s also generous with his teammates on the court. I have to adjust to his game and that’s OK with me”.
The NCAA 2016 and 2018 Champion with Villanova has 5.8 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game in the beginning of his NBA career. He was the 17th pick of last summer’s NBA Draft.
