Veljko Mrsic will succeed Drazen Anzulovic as the Croatian national team head coach, the Croatian Basketball Federation announced today (2/5).
Mrsic, 48, was Cedevita’s junior team coach before becoming Jasmin Repesa’s assistant when Cedevita won the first Croatian championship title. He eventually took over as the head coach winning three national championships, two “Kresimir Cosic” Cups and advanced to the EuroLeague Top 16 (2016).
He moved to Bilbao Basket for the 2017-18 season and in November 2018 returned to Cedeviat but this time in the role of club’s sports director.
Croatia failed to qualify for the 2019 World Cup in China and their next goal will be to clinch a spot at the 2021 EuroBasket.
