Lithuanian Basketball Federation has offered Kazys Maksvytis to lead the national team, the coach confirmed to lrytas.lt.
Maksvytis didn’t make a decision yet but is interested and will consider it thoroughly. Lithuania head coach position has been left vacant after the 2019 FIBA World Cup (finished 9th) as Dainius Adomaitis stepped down.
The 42-year-old started his coaching career in 2010 and spent nine years in Lithuania with four teams (Aisciai, Sakalai, Neptunas, Lietkabelis) before moving to Russia in 2019 to take over Parma Basket Perm.
Maksvytis has had success with the younger selections of the Lithuanian national team winning gold medals at practically every level – U16 EuroBasket in 2008, U18 EuroBasket in 2010, U19 World Cup in 2011, U20 EuroBasket in 2012.
