Adam Mokoka sets NBA record, gets MVP chants

Recent seasons have not been the best for Chicago Bulls fans. Occasionally the United Center crowd relives glimpses of past successes though. Thursday’s Regular Season game versus the New Orleans Pelicans did not generate a “W”, but fans enjoyed watching a special performance by the rookie from Paris, Adam Mokoka.

The 21-year-old guard signed a two-way contract with the Bulls last summer, thus has spent most of his 2019-20 campaign with the Windy City Bulls in G League. Had no points in his first 17 NBA minutes scattered through five appearances, but put up 15 in his next five with 3/3 twos and 3/3 threes on Thursday.

No player had ever poured 15 or more points playing five or less minutes in a single NBA match, according to Elias Sports Bureau. In Mokoka’s case, those 15 points were also the first of his NBA career.

The Bulls had accepted defeat and rolled in their reserves for the closing minutes. The French guard got hot in a hurry and in a matter of minutes was serenaded with MVP chants.

BCM Gravelines-Dunkerque youth academy product and former Mega Bemax player made the best out of his sixth NBA outing, hopes to further prove himself moving forward. Time is certainly on his side.

As for G League, the athletic guard is averaging 9.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.3 steals per 2019-20 affair.
