Nikola Jokic has been having his best NBA season so far, averaging a career-high 20.8 points, plus 10.0 rebounds and 6.7 assists per game as of March 1st. It has been a successful run basketball-wise and it can also get lucrative for the Serbian center on the “money side” of things. That’s depending on the Denver Nuggets‘ course towards the playoffs and after the postseason begins.
According to a report by Hoopshype, Jokic can see the sum of $862.000 added to his salary at the end of the season. Two requirements must be met so that the “Joker” earns that extra cash.
First, the Nuggets must proceed to the playoffs once the regular season is over for Jokic to get $431,000. This looks close to “locked” since the team is already 40-19 and tied with the Los Angeles Clippers at the second spot in the Western Conference standings. Actually, the Nuggets will have to fall into a major slump to stray away from the postseason zone and ultimately miss the playoffs. And that seems highly unlikely.
Another $431,000 package will make its way to Jokic’s bank account if Denver makes it past the first round and to the Western Conference semifinals. While the Nuggets are among the top teams in the NBA right now, this will depend on the opponent they will face in the first round plus their form in that period. Still, it’s more than a doable goal.
