Heading to the locker room following Friday’s loss, Giannis Antetokounmpo and his older brother Thanasis faced a by-standing Greek fan mocking them in strong language in Greek. The incident went down seconds after the conclusion of the 2019-20 NBA Regular Season contest between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Milwaukee Bucks at the Staples Center.
Bucks teammates answered, but were quickly held back and the “fan” fled. It’s unclear how he got so near to the locker rooms unless he wasn’t a fan but a person working in the Staples Center.
Thanasis stayed on the bench for the night, while the reigning NBA MVP survived a scary fall in the fourth quarter en route to his 32-point, 12-rebound double-double. He was in obvious pain but made his way back to the court recovering from his left knee injury. The Greek Freak was checked out by the doctors after exchanging words with the Greek fan and told reporters that he is OK.
Kostas Antetokounmpo was also present at the Staples Center despite being assigned to the South Bay Lakers. He spent time with his brothers prior to the match.
