A handful of players have been making a case for the MVP award in the 2019-20 NBA regular season but the consensus seems to be that it’s down to two guys – Giannis Antetokounmpo and LeBron James.
And if you ask Charles Barkley, there is no discussion needed and Giannis should be the clear winner: “You’re an idiot if you vote for LeBron over Giannis for MVP. Imagine LeBron being 53-9 with Kris Middleton as his next best player and losing the MVP. The media is stupid,” he said on the Dan LeBartad Show.
Giannis has been without a doubt dominating this season, averaging 29.6 points, 13.8 rebounds, and 5.8 assists on 54% shooting and the Bucks currently hold the league-best 53-10 record.
James, on the other hand, has been posting 25.6 points, 10.7 assists and 7.8 boards per game in his 17th NBA season at 35 years of age.
Unprecedented longevity and if he finishes the season on a high note, it could possibly secure him the win in this race. He certainly made a statement in the Lakers‘ latest win – over the Bucks – with 37, eight and eight as he pushed the squad to a 48-13 record.
