NBA teams were informed via a memo on Thursday from the league about the training facilities closing, reports Shams Charania of The Athletic. The NBA previously extended its ban on group practices indefinitely but decided to totally restrict access to team facilities in the effort to avoid the further spread of the coronavirus. COVID-19.

Several NBA teams had already closed down their facilities to players and staff, for the same reason. However, upon further advisement from the league, all teams are placed under the same limitation.

Players have also been told to avoid training in any non-team public areas. The only option remaining is practicing at home, an alternative not available to every NBA player.

Apart from players attempting to stay in shape, the NBA is still determined to relaunch the season when health security is achieved. The league is discussing many possible scenarios on dates, competition formats, and venues.

As for the 2020-21 season, it may not tip-off until Christmas, depending on the outcome of the 2019-20 season. The situation remains fluid preventing any possible option from solidifying itself.

An additional measure, the NBA is banning players from traveling outside of North America, reports ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
