Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv’s Deni Avdija is on the radar of the Cleveland Cavaliers, according to Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com. The coronavirus pandemic prevents all NBA teams from properly scouting players. The draft itself is currently up in the air along with the 2019-20 season. However, the Cavs previously checked the 19-year-old Israeli swingman.
The report notes that the director of scouting Brandon Weems traveled to Tel Aviv in March and watched the intruding player competing in three games. While overseas scouted other international prospects, Theo Maledon, Killian Hayes and Leandro Bolmaro.
Avdija is among the hot draft prospects and will likely produce scouting reports scattered through all the NBA teams’ front offices. Traveling restrictions stemming from the current worldwide crisis puts those plans on hold though.
