Ratiopharm Ulm guard Killian Hayes is declaring for the 2020 NBA Draft, the player told ESPN’s Jonathan Givony. The French guard is considered among the top European prospects of his Draft class.
“I am officially declaring for the NBA Draft. I have sent in paperwork to the league office and I’m very excited,” Hayes said.
Hayes, born on July 27, 2001, had returned to the USA after the suspension of the German League amid the coronavirus pandemic. He was planning to enter a pre-draft training program with Will Bynum but this went on hold due to the COVID-19 situation.
“Since the German league got suspended, my family and I decided to come back to the U.S. “I trained at home at first, but my trainers have found a private gym that we can use so I’ve been working on my game out there. Right now everything is uncertain. I was supposed to have my pre-draft training in Chicago with Will Bynum, but with everything that’s going on and the German league willing to resume the season [at the end of April], everything is blurry at the moment.”
Hayes averaged 11.6 points, 5.3 assists, 3.2 rebounds and 1.4 steals in 25:08 minutes over 20 games of the German League before its suspension. He had 12.8 points, 6.2 assists and 1.5 steals in 26:46 minutes of 10 EuroCup games.
