NBA players will receive their full checks when the next payday – for most of them – arrives on April 15, per ESPN. The next scheduled payment comes on May 1, and it remains unclear if those checks will be affected.
The League and the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) have been in talks for several weeks regarding salary payment during the shutdown caused by the coronavirus outbreak.
The extraordinary situation will cause a delay of more than 250 matches through April 15, which would have been the end of the regular season in normal circumstances.
While none of the games have been canceled, the financial losses in case the season gets shortened or canceled could reach hundreds of millions of dollars.
NBA commissioner Adam Silver noted earlier this week that no decisions about the rest of the season will be made before May.
