Many NBA teams want to see the 2019 NBA draft being held “no sooner than August 1” according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski and Jonathan Givony.
The NBA Draft was scheduled to take place on June 25 but that seems highly unlikely amid the coronavirus pandemic that has forced the NBA to be suspended indefinitely. NBA executives hope that the league will postpone the date of the draft.
Per ESPN, club executives believe that the impact of the pandemic had made it difficult to sufficiently evaluate draft prospects and gather enough information about them. This includes the usual workouts, interviews and also scouting that was usually done during Spring.
Some officials of NBA teams consider September as a period where both the draft and the free agency can take place. That’s considering the fact that the 2019-2020 season may potentially be concluded at the end of the summer.
