Georgios Kalaitzakis told ESPN on Saturday that he made himself eligible for the 2020 NBA draft.

“Unfortunately, the season in Lithuania was one of the first to be canceled, and we made it home just in time before the travel restrictions,” he wrote, “I’m working out at home every day and spending quality time with my family, as we don’t get to do this often.”

The hot European prospect joined Nevezis on loan for the 2019-20 season. Posted 12.2 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.0 steals per LKL game up to the decision to cancel the remaining games, in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

“I was planning to spend some time in America after the end of our season so I can practice and work out, but as of now I can’t do that,” he admitted, “I will work as much as I can in my country and if it’s allowed, I will have our assistant coach Martynas Stankovicius from Nevezis over to Greece, and help me through individual practices.”

The Panathinaikos OPAP player has represented Greece at all junior levels since 2015. The 2019 U20 European Championship featured him at 19.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 1.7 steals per appearance.

The 21-year-old guard initially declared for the 2018 NBA draft but withdrew before the deadline for early entrants. A couple of years later and with plenty of added playing experience throws himself back into the draft field.
