Phoenix Suns star Devin Booker became the first-ever NBA2K Players Tournament champion by beating teammate DeAndre Ayton in the Final. The game concluded a 16-player tournament that was organized in light of the suspension of all basketball action due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The NBA and the NBPA will be donating 100,000 in Booker’s name to the Direct Relief and Arizona Food Bank Network for the relief efforts in the fight against the pandemic.
“It was a really good time obviously for a great purpose. I’m excited about it,” Booker said.
Booker had defeated Los Angeles Clippers forward Montrezl Harrell in one of the semifinals while Ayton took down Clippers guard Patrick Beverley in the other. Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, Donovan Mitchell and Andre Drummond were also among the participants.
