Mike Conley captured first place in the H-O-R-S-E competition set up by the NBA. He defeated Tamika Catchings on Sunday to advance to the semifinals, added a semifinal win over Chauncey Billups and a final triumph versus Zach LaVine on Thursday.
The tournament marked the first basketball action in North America since NBA suspended the 2019-20 season, in response to the coronavirus pandemic. The competition organized by the NBA aimed to donate more than $200,000 to charities.
Apart from Conley, the quarterfinals featured LaVine beating Paul Pierce, Billups taking out Trae Young and Allie Quigley eliminating Chris Paul. LaVine went on to prevail in the Chicago battle between himself and Sky sharpshooter Quigley.
