ASVEL Owner and former San Antonio Spurs great Tony Parker talked about further expanding his business plans to the NBA as one of his “ultimate goals” on a Q&A with The Undefeated.
“I love the U.S. I have been living here for 20 years, and I don’t mind traveling”, said Parker of his business schedule that requires him to spend a lot of time back in France. “The ultimate goal is to one day own an NBA team.”
If an NBA team became available for purchase, Parker admitted there’s a strong chance to pursue this plan.
“It’s a strong possibility. Right now, we have different objectives and goals. But in five to 10 years … I am the type of person who always dreams big. I have already had discussions with the soccer president about that”, he added.
Besides, the NBA, there have been reports that Parker will be the next president of the Olympique Lyonnais soccer club in 2023 after Jean-Michel Aulas retires.
“First of all, it’s true and an honor for me. I never thought something like that would happen for me. It’s a huge opportunity. It’s one of the top 50 best teams in the world”, he commented. “Aulas has helped me a lot with the arena [plans] with his real estate, relationships with the mayor and sponsors”.
