Pau Gasol: The potential of playing my last year with the Lakers would be great

Pau Gasol has mentioned that he hopes he will play one more season before hanging his shoes for good. He has already cited Barcelona as a team of an “appeal” to him for possibly finishing his career and another ideal scenario would be the team he reached the peak his days in the NBA: The Los Angeles Lakers.

“Seriously considered? It’s not that I’ve had many opportunities,” Gasol said in an interview with ClutchPoints after he was asked if he considered retiring with the Lakers. “It’s something that has been on my mind. Kind of like the potential of maybe finishing or playing my last year with the Lakers would be great. It’s appealing if you will, but the opportunity never really kind of presented itself in a serious official manner.”

Gasol joined the Lakers in 2008 and was pivotal for them winning the back-to-back championships fo 2009 to 2010. He parted ways with the team in 2014.
While retiring with the Lakers would be “great,” Gasol doesn’t believe it’s something realistic at that point.

“I have a great relationship and love for Jeanie and the Lakers organization and the city of Los Angeles, which is always going to remain extremely meaningful to me no matter what, but we’ll see. But not really,” Gasol said.
