Fenerbahce Beko forward/center Joffrey Lauvergne is becoming a free agent in summer and doesn’t rule out a potential return to the NBA.

“We’ll see. All options are in play. It’s not impossible to return to the NBA,” Lauvergne said in an interview with Serbian website Espreso. “At the end of the day, nothing is certain at the moment due to the coronavirus. We’ll see what will happen but the most important thing is to continue playing, to be healthy. I hope that the season will continue and if not, then I can’t wait for the next one.”

Lauvergne signed a two-year deal with Fenerbahce in 2018 to return to Europe following a four-season stint in the NBA. The French big man came had a very specific goal in his mind when he made that decision: Winning the EuroLeague championship.

“After Partizan, I had three wishes: One to play for the national team, I succeeded, I have to mention the two bronze medals the gold, and the Olympic Games, of which I’m very proud of. The other was to play in the NBA and I succeeded. The other wish was why I decided to come to Fenerbahce, even though I had a contract for another year in the NBA. [That wish is] to win the EuroLeague. That’s why I came to Fener. I believed that it was possible to fulfill that wish. At the moment we may not be in the best position but the wish is there, I hope it’ll happen.”
