Per a joint statement Michael Jordan  and the Jordan brand announced the 100 million donation will be paid out over 10 years with the goal of “ensuring racial equality, social justice and greater access to education”.

“We must join forces with the community, government and civic leaders to create a lasting impact together,” said Craig Williams, president of Jordan Brand, in a press release.

“There is still more work for us to do to drive real impact for the Black Community. We embrace the responsibility.”

Jordan Brand emphasized that Black lives matter and said that it isn’t a controversial statement.

“Until the ingrained racism that allows our country’s institutions to fail is completely eradicated, we will remain committed to protecting and improving the lives of Black people,” said the release.

On Sunday, Jordan himself released a statement saying he stands with the protesters “who are calling out the ingrained racism and violence toward people of colour.”
