Denver Nuggets assistant coach Jordi Fernandez said that the team’s star center Nikola Jokic reminds him of Lebron James when it comes to both his characteristics as a player and the overall positive influence that the Serbian big man has on his teammates.
Before joining the Nuggets, Fernandez worked as a player development coach on the Cleveland Cavaliers.
“His personality. He’s a player who connects with everyone without saying too much,” Fernandez said in an interview with AS. “He is really likable. And also another thing I can tell you is that he has this something LeBron James has. Because apart from being a multi-positional player or a creator, he’s a different player, in the end you realize that everyone wants to play with him and that everyone is better playing with him. Sometimes these things are overlooked and it’s a shame. If you give me an example of a player who is very very good, if you look at the numbers of his teammates, they are always better when they are with him. At the end of the year, they sign big-money contracts. It’s something that I was seeing with LeBron for a long time and now I see it with Jokic. Everyone on the team wants to play with him.”
