Deni Avdija returned to action with the resumption of Israel’s Winner League. The 19-year-old forward is focused on helping Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv capture the domestic championship but also keeps in mind the NBA draft scheduled on October 16 drawing motivation from scouting reports.

“People saying I am weak motivates me,” he noted commenting on reading about needing to build up his body, “I took it on myself to improve. I realized I can improve in other areas as well.”

The coronavirus pandemic halted action these past months, but the Winner League is among European competitions back with a plan to crown a 2019-20 champion. In contrast, the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague will not resume.

“I trained extensively aiming to work on my body,” added Avdija after Sunday’s win versus Maccabi Ashdod, “I am happy with the result of my effort but will continue working.”

The NBA prospect rolled back on the court scoring 23 points and complimenting his outing with seven rebounds and five assists on Sunday. His overall 2019-20 run in the Israel league features 12.8 points per match. He also put up 4 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per EuroLeague game.
