Danilo Gallinari spoke to the media via a Zoom call ahead of the NBA season-ending tournament in Florida later this month and focused on the positive results of teams’ isolation, that grants players the chance to focus on the game and be less distracted by other factors.
The veteran Italian player also spoke to the press about he can help the team get back on track, despite nearing four months out of action.
“I think that at the beginning (Paul and I) can help as leaders of this team but at the end of the day since we’re going to be playing basketball, I think everybody is going to adjust right away,” said Gallinari.
“The good thing is we’re not going to have a lot of distractions. It’s really going to only be about basketball and getting ready for practicing and playing so many games that everybody, after a little bit, is going to adjust and it’s going to be second nature.”
Still, as he pointed out, there’s no workout that can truly simulate NBA gameplay. This is a question all participating teams and players are facing, how will the return to action actually look like after so many months of inactivity.
“The most difficult part is going to be getting back into game shape because we can practice and do individual workouts as much as we want but it’s never going to be like a game. It’s going to be different, something new. I think I will have a better idea once I get there, after a couple weeks of living in Orlando, Disney World. I have no idea now.”
