Gregg Popovich will coach the San Antonio Spurs in the tournament planned to conclude the 2019-20 NBA season, according to Mike Finger of the San Antonio Express-News. At 71, he is considered among people at higher risk to contract coronavirus.
The San Antonio organization is scheduled to travel to Orlando joining the rest of the teams involved in the season-ending tournament on Thursday. Following the flight, players and staff will enter the bubble subjecting themselves to health and security protocols implemented by the league.
The NBA intends to resume action on July 30 pitting the 22 teams in eight additional regular season games. The top eight from each conference will progress to a conventional playoffs tournament. The Spurs are ranked 12th in the West with an outside chance to advance.
