Jarrod Uthoff will sign a contract with the Washington Wizards for the NBA season-ending tournament scheduled to start on July 30, per Shams Charania of The Athletic.
The Wizards traveled to Orlando without John Wall, Bradley Beal, Davis Bertans, and Garrison Mathews. In addition, Gary Payton II and Thomas Bryant tested positive for coronavirus. The latter has since joined his teammates in the bubble though.
A reinforcement in the form of Uthoff seems necessary. The 27-year-old forward, Iowa alum, took part in four 2019-20 games prior to the hiatus with the Memphis Grizzlies and made his way to nine more games with the Dallas Mavericks during the 2016-17 season.
Apart from his G League appearances with various teams throughout his professional career, Uthoff jumped overseas joining Zenit Saint-Petersburg for the 2017-18 season. He competed in both the 7DAYS EuroCup averaging 7.2 points per match and the VTB United League averaging 5.9 points per contest.
The Wizards are 24-40 heading into the eight additional regular season games planned to take place in Orlando. They currently sit 5.5 wins behind the eighth and final playoffs spot of the Eastern Conference.
