Following the scrimmage loss to the Indiana Pacers, Luka Doncic discussed the current Dallas Mavericks situation heading into the eight additional NBA regular season games. His side still has one exhibition to go before the seeding matches that will lead the top eight teams from each conference into the playoffs.
“I don’t think we will be at our best for the first game,” he admitted noting that upcoming action will serve to gear up for the postseason, “I think we will be ready for the playoffs which are the most important.”
Kristaps Porzingis was held out of Sunday’s game after forgetting to test for coronavirus. “We missed KP a lot,” his teammate said following the loss to the Pacers.
An injury scare generated an early exit for the first scrimmage, but his second appearance in Orlando nearly landed him a triple-double. The 21-year-old Slovenian put up 20 points, 11 rebounds, and nine assists in 24 minutes against the Pacers.
The eight seeding games will simply set up the Mavericks for the playoffs since the 40-27 record prior to the lengthy hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic guarantees a spot among the top eight Western Conference teams.
