Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot scored a career-high 26 points, including two straight 3-pointers, down the stretch, to lead the shorthanded Brooklyn Nets to a 119 – 116 win over the Milwaukee Bucks.
Luwawu-Cabarrot had set his previous career-high in the Nets‘ restart opener, a loss to the Orlando Magic. This time, his new record contributed to a victory, the Nets’ second straight.
With the Bucks up 110 – 109 and three minutes remaining, Luwawu-Cabarrot made two triples in a row to puts the Nets at a six-point distance. After Milwaukee approached to one point, Garret Temple made the jumper for the 116 – 119 with seconds left. The Bucks failed to take a shot in their offense.
Giannis Antetokounmpo posted 16 points, six rebounds and four assists in the 16 minutes he spent on the court, all of them in the first half. Ersan Ilyasova added a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Bucks that could’ve clinch top spot in the Eastern Conference if they won.
Rodions Kurucs scored 10 points and got four rebounds for the Nets.
