Luka Doncic’s historic night – whilst breaking Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s record for more points scored in the first two postseason games with a total of 70 points – led the Dallas Mavericks to tie the series vs. LA Clippers with their first playoffs victory.
“It’s an amazing feeling”, Doncic told reporters after the game and his new record. “I mean we got a win. That’s all I care about. That’s great stats, but we got a win. I knew we could get a win. We were already able to fight these guys and we showed up today.”
“We’ve just got three left. I think we can fight with them. Any series we go in, we’re going to believe we can win, for sure. If you don’t believe it, you’re not supposed to be here. You’ve got to believe it”, he tells.
Despite making a huge impact in the first half of the game, Doncic sat most of the second one out, after being called with his fifth foul early in the fourth quarter.
“I was frustrated for like 15 seconds, then I was focused on supporting my teammates. They did a great, great job. Being on the bench, it’s hard for me. I want to help my team, but we won the game. Maybe if I don’t pick up that foul, we don’t win the game.”
