Boston Celtics forward Gordon Hayward left the NBA bubble in Orlando, Florida to continue his recovery from an ankle sprain at home. Hayward is planning to rejoin his team when he’s nearing a return to action.
Hayward’s recovery from the Grade 3 sprain he suffered in Game 1 vs. the Philadelphia 76ers is estimated to take four weeks.
“He [Hayward] left Friday,” Stevens said in a zoom call. “The plan of attack, from what I’ve been told, is when he’s closing in on being ready to play, he’ll be back.” He later added that Hayward “will do rehab where he is.”
Hayward’s wife is expecting the birth of the couple’s fourth child in September. The player wanted to depart from the bubble to attend the birth.
