The Brooklyn Nets are slowly putting together the puzzle as they aim for the top of the NBA in the coming years with the superstar duo of Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.
They’ve added Steve Nash as the head coach recently and while some more changes could be expected, the new coach is quite satisfied with the current squad as it is.
“I expect the core to be there, I’m planning on this core being there, but in the NBA you have to be adaptable and know that anything can happen. So I’m planning around this group. … I’m thrilled with this roster,” Nash said.
Not very specific but one can guess that “the core” also includes Joe Harris who is entering the offseason as a free agent.
Brooklyn GM Sean Marks stated multiple times that keeping Harris will be important for the team. “Priority No. 1. It’s that simple, yeah,” he said.
And it goes both ways. The 29-year-old sharpshooter has been with the Nets since 2016 and he doesn’t hide that it’s where he would like to continue going forward.
“I met with him the other day, grabbed a coffee with him and Sean. First time I met Steve. His reputation obviously across the league is incredible. Everybody that’s ever played with him, everybody that’s ever been around him, nothing but good things, and that’s exactly how he was in person, too,” Harris told “The JWilly Show” podcast and added.
“He obviously knows I’m a free agent. I’m one of the few guys on the team in this situation right now where I am a free agent. And he just talked about how he felt about me as a player and wanted me to come back and be in Brooklyn.”
