The Boston Celtics defeated reigning NBA champions Toronto Raptors 92-87 Friday in Game 7 to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals, where they will meet the Miami Heat.
Jayson Tatum scored 29 points for the winners, Jaylen Brown had 21 points, as Marcus Smart scored 16 points and Kemba Walker added 14 points for third-seeded Boston.
Fred VanVleet tapped 20 points for Toronto, Kyle Lowry posted 16 points, while Serge Ibaka left the court with 14 points.
The Celtics are headed to the finals to meet the Heat in a match-up that last happened in 2012, where the Heat were named NBA champions. Since then, the only familiar face in this finals pair remains forward Udonis Haslem, who is on to another final series with the Heat.
