The Denver Nuggets made history in more than one way and they get to play the Lakers in the Western Conference Finals. Nikola Jokic needed just three quarters for a triple-double, finishing the game with 16 points, 22 rebounds, and 13 assists, Jamal Murray scored 40 points, and the Nuggets came back from losing 3-1 to win Game 7 against the LA Clippers 104-89.
The LA Clippers lost the 8th chance in their history to clinch a spot in the conference finals after collapsing in the second half. Behind Jokic’s big game the Nuggets entered the last period leading by eight (82-74) and two minutes before the final buzzer they led by 20 (100-80).
The Clippers didn’t have any answers for the Jokic-Murray duo. Kawhi Leonard scored just 14 points and Paul George added 10. Montrezl Harrell with 20 was the top scorer of the losing side, but that’s just a footnote in the game.
“I will look at this and try to figure this out. It’s very disappointing,” Clippers head coach Doc Rivers said.
On the contrary, the Nuggets become the first team in NBA history that come back twice in the same post-season from a 3-1 deficit and they return to the Western Conference finals for the first time since 2009.
