Goran Dragic paced Miami Heat to a 117-114 victory in OT against the Boston Celtics in the first game of the Eastern Conference finals with 29 points. While speaking to reporters post-game, Dragic remained humble about the victory.
“We know we didn’t do much, yet. It’s only one win. We have to bring our best game”, he said.
“I felt really great tonight. Those couple of days off helped. I just saw a couple of openings and my confidence grew”, he mentioned about his performance.
Dragic adds that the Heat and himself do get nervous about the finals, though they try to enjoy the position they are at.
“We enjoy the game, we put a lot of hard work to it. We enjoy the position we are in, but at the same time, of course, you have these butterflies in your stomach, you feel a little bit nervous, that’s normal. As soon as the game starts, everything goes away and you just have to produce as much as possible”.
He also spoke about leading Heat’s young squad, as a now well-seasoned player and how his experience translates to his connection with his teammates.
“I feel great, it comes naturally. I’ve learned from a lot of great leaders like Chris Bosh, Dwayne Wade, Udonis Haslem, they’re here always talking to me. I just want to share my knowledge with those young kids and make it a little bit easier for them. The most important thing is that the players and coaching staff trust me so I can be myself”, Dragic mentioned.
