Celtics assistant coach Scott Morrison said Theis may not be getting a lot of attention, though what he’s done on the floor during the season means much more for his teammates

Boston Celtics bid goodbye to the season after falling 4-2 to the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference finals, with Daniel Theis being among the key players in this season’s run with an average of 8.9 points, 6.2 rebounds across 17 playoffs games.

Celtics Assistant Coach Scott Morrison spoke to the World of Basketball podcast about the German big man’s influence on the Celtics’ game, despite the fact that he isn’t receiving a lot of attention from the media.

“Theis, some people will say he’s the best value contract for this season. From the start of the season until the end, he starts for one of the bests teams in the league, he’s an Eastern Conference finalist. He doesn’t get a lot of media because he doesn’t score that much but a lot of points everyone else is scoring is a result of what he’s doing”, said Morrison.

“Whether be it ball movement, passing, he’s a pretty good roller for his size. He can get above the rim and catch a lot, so he’s a threat. […] He didn’t get a lot of attention, but a lot of the attention the other guys got they owe to Theis a lot for what he’s done on the floor”.
