Pau Gasol said that he will decide on whether he will continue playing or retire in the next month or 90s days. The two-time NBA champion and Spanish national team great has been trying to recover his left foot after undergoing surgery for a fracture in 2019.

“This pandemic, along with all the bad that has brought us, is giving me a little more room to rehabilitate the foot and the progression is being positive,” Gasol said in a video interview for Spanish news agency EFE, per Marca. “In the next month or month and a half, my level of exigency on the court will be very high, and there I will find out if I can compete again.”

Gasol was operated in May 2019 and was ruled out for the remainder of the season after playing three games with the Milwaukee Bucks.

In the following summer, Gasol signed a contract with the Portland Trail Blazers, only to be waived in November. He has said many times that he hopes to play one last season and join Spain in Tokyo’s Olympic Games before hanging his shoes, something which he repeated in the interview.

Gasol also commented on recent rumors linking his brother Marc to Barcelona. “Marc and me at Barca? I am surprised by the impact and journey of unverified information,” Gasol said, characterizing them as “fake news.”
